Fund managers can now list ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) composed of other ETFs or foreign exchange assets in their portfolio at B3. The Currency ETF expands the possibility of diversifying investments with exposure to exchange-rate risk thus boosting the currency market in Brazil.

Therefore, the launch of Currency ETF brings new opportunities for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) managers to expand their portfolios. ETFs have witnessed a sharp growth in Brazil allowing investors to access diverse markets in an easy and low cost way.

Currency ETFs seek to track the profitability of currency indices. They may have ETFs traded on other exchanges that track the same index or assets that make up the index portfolio. Currency ETFs help to strengthen Brazil’s Currency market.

The framework of Currency ETFs is similar to other Equity ETFs as they seek to reflect the variations and profitability of currency indices, before fees and expenses, and their theoretical portfolios are mostly composed of foreign exchange assets from different countries.

B3 offers the environment for issuing and redeeming Currency ETF shares in the primary market according to the rules defined by the ETF manager. In addition, Currency ETFs are traded regularly in the secondary market. Settlement is in T+2 by multilateral netting.
