New Controls for Treating Positions with a Central Counterparty in the Organized OTC Market

Comprising the following contracts: Swap, NDF Currency, Flexible Options on Derivatives and Commodities, and Flexible Cash-Settled Equity Options.

The project aims to improve the position limits methodology and streamline monitoring through a system that can be accessed by market participants, thus enabling viewing of the limits assigned by B3 Clearinghouse as well as the control of consumption and activity in case of limit breaches.

In this new phase of the project, new controls will be implemented for the treatment of organized OTC positions with a central counterparty for the following instruments:

  • Swap and NDF Currency Contracts

  • Flexible Options on Derivatives and Commodities Contracts

  • Flexible Options Contracts on assets traded in the cash-settled equity market

We adopt open position concentration limits as a measure to protect the integrity of our markets, mitigate credit risk and risks to the price formation process in compliance with CVM Instruction 283/1998.

Open positions at various aggregation levels are monitored daily by B3 Clearinghouse as to their adequacy to the concentration limits. The position is compared to the corresponding limits, whereas the existence of a quantity greater than any of the limits is considered a breach.

Open position concentration limits are defined for each instrument and for groups of instruments based on their particularities, for example, underlying asset, maturity, liquidity, market type, option type (when applicable), etc.
