Greater efficiency in asset transfers

The electronic and standardized exchange of data through an environment facilitates and speeds up the portability process for B3’s investors.

Custodians must:

  • Receive and process portability requests sent by the B3 Central Depository.
  • Notify the Central Depository about the requests received directly by investors.
  • Act as both transferors (origin) and transferees (destination) of portability.
    1. Portability request: Digital interface available to investors 24/7 to request the electronic portability of securities. This procedure allows the transferor custodian (where the assets to be transferred are held) to confirm that the investor has requested portability, either at the destination institution or at the central depository, to mitigate portability risks resulting from fraud in the registration or access to the investor's account at the destination institution.
    2. Portability implementation: Includes analysis of custodians, identification of impediments, data exchange, and implementation of asset transfers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The flow is organized according to the asset type under four main categories:
  • Listed
  • OTC
  • Funds not registered with B3
  • Other assets not held in custody at B3

• Elimination of paper flow;

• Standardization of data exchange and communication between participants;

• Simplification of the process for investors and participants;

• Efficiency gains for custodians;

• Transparency of each stage of the request to investors;

• Governance for custodians.
