In March 2023, we started a study to reduce the equity settlement cycle to T+1 in line with the main global markets trend.

The study was carried out jointly with the Post-Trade Advisory Committee and aims to map impacts and opportunities for improving post-trade processes to enable a safe transition in the Brazilian market.

From the execution of the transaction to settlement, the settlement cycle is two business days. Until May 2019, this cycle was three business days.
The quest for constant evolution of B3’s systems reinforces our commitment to investors and Brazilian financial institutions to seeking an increasingly efficient market.
The discussions and designs of the new settlement cycle in this study will be done through work groups with the active participation of B3’s Post-Trade Advisory Committee and market representatives.
In September 2024, a Whitepaper was published, presenting some of the main mapped challenges and recommendations for the migration.
The official project timeline will be published in 2025.
