B3 is implementing a major improvement in its derivatives trading segment. It will increase the limit of series of options available on Futures and Spot Contracts.

Currently, the number of series is limited to a maximum of 124 series per contract, due to the methodology used to generate the settlement ID. This limit required the analysis and closure of old series to allow the creation of new ones, which made the process operationally complex.

To increase efficiency in the creation of new series, and increase the limit of series available on Futures and Spot Contracts, the new methodology will allow the creation of up to 9,999 options per contract month.

The limit for creating series of Options on Futures and Spot Contracts was up to 124 series per contract month. This required the exclusion of old series (with no open contracts) to allow the registration of new series.

Now, market participants will have greater scalability to enter new option series. With the new methodology, the limit has increased to up to 9,999 series per contract month.
