IDIV B3: New index for the global market
The IDIV is made up of a theoretical portfolio of assets from listed companies that stand out in dividend distribution to shareholders
The IDIV was designed to measure the average performance of stocks and units from B3’s listed companies that stand out in dividend distribution to shareholders in the form of dividends and interest on equity. The Dividend Index (IDIV B3) is part of B3’s 24 sector portfolio indices.
These indices offer segmented views of listed companies and economy sectors and are used around the world for the development of Index Funds and other products aimed at diversifying investors' portfolios. Furthermore, they serve to gauge the market’s interest, supporting the decisions of Brazilian and foreign investors interested in certain segments.
Eligibility criteria
To compose the IDIV, the listed companies’ assets must be among the 99% most traded during the term of the three previous portfolios. Furthermore, the assets must be present in 95% of trading sessions in the same period. The assets must also be among the 33% with the highest dividend yields in the last 36 months. Finally, the sum of the dividend yields for each 12 consecutive months must be greater than zero.
BDRs (Brazilian Depositary Receipts) and assets of companies undergoing court-supervised or out-of-court reorganization, special temporary administration regime, intervention, or that are traded in any other special listing situation are not part of the IDIV.
Opportunities
Based on index indicators, such as IDIV B3, it is possible to identify business opportunities by selecting companies that are leaders in dividend payouts, as well as directing investments to specific sectors with a consistent history of shareholder remuneration.
